Behavioral Simulation of Incomplete Representations in Conceptual Design

In this paper we describe a new domain: behavioral simulation of incomplete representations in conceptual mechanical design. We divide the conceptual design process into stages, and identify simulation requirements for each stage. We examine and define the concept of incompleteness. We also show how behavioral simulation can be applied to the various stages. Some steps toward combining behavioral simulation and incompleteness are taken. Finally, a simulation example is given to illustrate the theory.
